Those were my first thoughts about the flick. The film should be of those types, wherein things will be on massive attacks. A lot of soldiers will form a turtle defense, and there will be a lot of bows flying in the sky. Just the classic medieval war. But I caught my self in a wrong track.

Hey! That was my high school book report! I laughed because I remember how I summarized that stuff. I did not even read the whole novel, actually I only skimmed it. Latter the part when I passed that report, I had the interest to read the whole junk.

The movie's plot is not that really synonymous to the novel I read. But the backbone of the story is quite similar to the said novel. The novel is not entitled Clash of the Titans, it is just simply Medusa. I could not help my self but to narrate the flow of the story to my friends while watching the movie, yes, narration while watching baby.

Quick Brief!

The movie story: The Clash of the Titans is set in the Greek city of Argos where a war is about to explode between man and the gods. Perseus rose as a fisherman, but is actually a semi-god. Perseus is the son of Zeus who is about to take on the gods after the death of his family. Zeus' brother Hades was the one who killed his family, and Perseus wants to kill him. However, it is Perseus' destiny to rescue the city of Argos from the ruthless rage of Hades and his Kraken monster. With nothing to lose, Perseus leads a band of soldiers on a quest to defeat the Kraken. In doing this, Perseus will prevent Hades from overthrowing Zeus and in turn destroying mankind. Source: Douglas Young

My book report: King Acrisius asked his prophecy from the Oracle. The prophecy says that the king's grandson will murder him. So, the king sent his only daughter, Danae, away from his kingdom. Even if Danae was in a cage, Zeus gave Danae a son. And eventually, Danae died and her son named Perseus was adopted by a fisherman. One day, there was a gathering in the kingdom and the teenage Perseus was invited. He was somewhat challenged there to behead Medusa, or his family will be slain. And the adventure of Perseus went. He was successful in beheading Medusa, and presented it to king. The Oracle appeared and told the truth about Perseus' past. And so, he killed his grandfather, which is the king.

Story: B-

It is not that too thrilling for me, since I already read the novel. But still, it was a pretty good story. A lot more twists than the novel.

Effects: B+

Medusa's snake hair was so intricate. It was so amazing, that you could say that the snakes were true. The Pegasus was also good. Effects on the gods were brilliant; especially Hades' first appearance. There's a part there that awaken my senses. It is where all gods and goddesses met in Zeus's place. They were like gods in a meeting, I think that one's cool.

Characters: B+

No one in particular made a stand on their role. Everyone portrayed their tasks well, but not on an exceptional mode.

Direction: B+

On the disappointing note, the camera was a bit shaky. Mostly on close contact fight scenes. It is just so itchy in your cornea.
Nevertheless, the majority of the shots were nicely done.

Cinematography: A

Some locations were breath-taking. Like on the desert scenes where the scorpions chase the fleet of Perseus. Medusa's place was also good. Fragments of posts, and magma underneath were a perfect match. The kingdom of Greece looked also an oldie one, fit for the time line.

Value Content: B

To trust is the very core value of the movie. It does not necessarily to trust Greek gods or something, but to trust to those who give their promises. And of course, trust always God.

To be brave is also a source of value from this flick.

Overall: B+

It is another 3D masterpiece that someday one could be classified as a classic one. There are just complicated things that 3D technology now can handle. But, 3D is not perfect, as they say.

The concept was not too refreshing. But the twists made its way to be a powerful movie.

Fun to watch.

Doctor Know Junior knows that:

In Greek mythology, Io is Perseus' great great great great great great great grandmother, and also his father Zeus' ex-wife.

This film begins with a set of constellations portraying history's events. Clash of the Titans (1981) ended with a set of constellations portraying history's events, (though not the same constellations).

If you know the story of the flick, do not narrate it to your friends while watching the film!

Life in Taborea: The World of Runes of Magic

Skinny. Sickly. Scrawny.

With these qualities I had back in my elementary days, I was always been the subject of those bully kids. Seldom I had tasted my snacks, and always beaten after school whenever I failed to fund them with the answers on the quiz we had. I was a typical boy being bullied, just like that.

To be strong: that was my motto from that moment, so I tried everything just to make myself not to look like an emaciated one. I tried every sport I knew; baseball, basketball, and volleyball, but I always ended up with either being kicked out or being a bench boy. I even dared of becoming a boy scout, but I was always the last one who performs every extreme task. Indeed, I was a loser.

Since then, I always believed that eating veggies can make me meatier. I declared myself to be vegetarian, yet I still eat meat (I can’t control). I aimed not to be bullied again in my high school days, and the best part was that I could take my vengeance. Though I succeeded to gain more weight, but my conscience ate my bad intention. I thought taking revenge is not right. And I decided not to do such deed, so I remained as regular student as I could be.

Not until I read Nuffnang’s blog contest about the free-to-play MMORPG hit Runes of Magic. I remembered myself planning to take revenge, and I could not just do it. But what if I could have the chance to take revenge, will I take it physically? Or just morally? Since I could not do it in real life, then why not in this E-Games game? With Runes of Magic, I could make those bully kids kneel down and even utter sorry in front of me. How? Virtually, I would just imagine my enemies as those bully kids. Just as that, I could not harm them physically and morally, yet I could make myself being contented with the revenge.

To start the vengeance machine rolling, there are simple steps to follow first. The revenge will not take that long, it will just consume a few minutes of my time anyway.

Log on.
Going to the Runes of Magic web page is a must considering that all the infos about the game are stuffed there. The web address would be http://runesofmagic.com.ph/.

Install.
The use of Runes of Magic DVD installer is one of the two options how to have the game. Completing the setup wizard is not that too time-killing, everyone knows that.

Download.
The game is also available in the web page of Runes of Magic. Just click the download button. There are four download sites available for version 2.1.6.2075 manual patch. And then, follow the instructions.

Now, as I enter the interactive 3-D world of Taborea, I am faced to the selection of what character should I use. They have their own strengths and capabilities. If I were to use all of the characters to defeat those bullies, it would likely be these:

Knights.

Since I am a physically depressed being, I could use this character as my tool for revenge. Knights could use massive armors and powerful weapons. Strength is their edge, and I would greatly utilize this one. I will make the words that I will say like: Ka-pow! or hee-yah! And by that time, I could confirm that I am stronger than those bully kids.

Mage.

Their offense is there best defense since they are in to magic. This character is a bit related to me since they are witty. They use this for raids, and those bullies can not hide from my power from now, even if they hide from dungeons. They are effective in guild wars that's why even if there are a battalion of those bad kids, I could manage defeating them just all by myself. Plus, I will create a spell that will defeat them in just a click.

Priests.

By the name itself, I would not be that too naughty. Though revenge is still my purpose, I will make it soft as possible. With divine strength, I could cure the wounds, and revive those fallen bullies, and make them repent on their committed sins. Now that's holistically evil stuff!

Rogues.

Since I am not good in sports, I will take Rogue as my avatar. Its speed will strike all my opponents. I will take advantage of the landscape of Taborea and make it as my playground. With my smooth moves and rhythmic gyration, I could beat them flexibly in just a nick of time. No hassle.

Scouts.

Best long-range combat would the Scout could offer. They are using their bows and crossbows. Perfecting the art of archery is their job, and yet Scouts are tricky. So, when I strike the bully kids with my arrows, they could hardly took revenge for I will shower them with a rain of bow attacks. They will not see me for I will hide on trees and bushes. And, they will find their selves defeated not knowing who the attacker is.

Warriors.

If the bullies will attack me, then the Warrior will be my character. Warriors mastered the close combats and have the highest defense. I could make those bullies what they they've been doing to me. I will hit them would with best combos of blows and strikes. I will be the brawn man now, not those bully kids anymore. And the best part is that: I could shout to the whole world of Taborea that I'm invincible! That in reality, I could not even shout and express my self.

Upon reaching a certain level after defeating those bullies, I could now use the feature of the dual-class system. Meaning, if I use the character Warrior, I could be a Warrior-mage if I reached that particular level. It would just mean that I could beat those naughty kids more quick, and strong. Taborea is inhabited with characters with developed skills and spells, it will not be hard to be leveled-up. Because of its dynamic item system; I could purchase items that will make my character mightier, giving the enemies no hope. And since there are regular content updates, I will be always informed on what's new in Taborea.

If you put your feet in to my shoes, what character would you be in Taborea to beat those bully kids?

A No-snow, No-show RP in 2010 Winter Olympics

No gold dug.

It has been a sports syndrome of the Philippines that alarmingly reoccurs whenever Olympic events are celebrated. Add the absence of the country in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. We accept defeat but we never learn. How come we find ourselves in triumph if we do not even participate?

Analogy would barely explain that a country with no snow is not capable of competing in the Winter Games, but it is a grief for those parties, like the Ice Skating Union of the Philippines, to amputate the pride of our country in the international sports arena. Amidst the fact that their training grounds are only those ice rinks in the malls, Filipino figure skaters are internationally renowned if most failed to notice. Competent, we are affirmative with that.

For the record, we had athletes namely Michael Dimalanta and Gracielle Jean Tan who attempted to join the Vancouver Games but failed to get the cut. Also not qualifying at the Winter Olympics in snowboarding is Eden Serina. Set to magnify these results, Filipino athletes are not in the state of cowardice, but being unschooled. Frail the program is because of the minute delegates; lucky if we really have that program.

A fraction in the mission statement of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is to support the specially talented athletes for high level competitions. Yes, the Philippines sent three athletes in the said games, but it is not sufficient. They did not even qualify to the main stage. It is not behind in our back that other countries do capitalize in their athletic programs, including China which germinates its children in the earliest possible time. The aim is not to emulate these countries, but to exceed them, and yet, our country is not in the mode of taking it in a serious business, but as a comic relief.

Aforesaid, the PSC is in the great season of autumn, which is not parallel to its abundant funds. Republic Act No. 9970 known as the General Appropriations Act of 2010 implies the 20% mark up of this year's budget of the PSC in comparison to its 2009 fund amounting to P319,188,000. The financial upgrade that the PSC has incurred would fabricate more its purpose to elevate the Filipino athletes towards more competitive performances. Seemingly, it is not quite visible to what had happened to the 2010 Winter Olympics. The point is, it is not the right time that the budget should be released just immediate before the due that it is needed, just before months, just before weeks, or just before days.

Worst case, it is not specifically scripted in RA 9970 that the 2010 Winter Olympics has allotted funds. Unlike in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, it was supplemented with P50,000,000 for the athletes' trainings. Alone from this thread, the PSC is making the Winter Olympics in a frozen motion; sub-zero state that even a single molecule could not hardly move.

Kenya, a more dry country than Philippines, has made its race represented in the 2010 Winter Games. To think, the CIA World Factbook ranked Philippines as the 47th most economically stabled country in the year 2009, way ahead to Kenya's 86th seat. That African country raised its flag in the Games with an athlete considering that they look more 'Third World' than ours. Good to know that they are making the most of almost nothing, and bad to know for the Filipinos that we are behind them.

Since its Olympic debut in 1924, the Philippines has earned seven bronze, two silver, and gold-less; a big frost bite in the Winter Olympics having a null medal count. It is ambitious to dream for a golden prestige in the Winter Olympics given the killing truth that in Summer Olympics alone we find ourselves in the state of sports recession. But a sporting chance would be just to our athletes who specialize on sports dealing with low temperature environment. The disability of our country to have ice lands is not really a disadvantage however it will not pacify the athletic needs. Now, as the edifice of Philippine sports, it is the sole job of the PSC to push these athletes to their extremities; to enact special programs and to initiate efficient improvises.

Rotten tomatoes are what we are sending to these kinds of battle. Releasing weaponless soldiers to a bloodshed war is but a big miscalculation. Though we have the funds, but we do not have the program. The kind of program that will adapt to what we do not have -snow. If the PSC could not have a good ending, then try to have a good beginning instead.

A drought Philippines is facing the world's final frontier of sports. Filipinos should not hibernate at a global challenge like this. If we are at our utmost disadvantage, then acclimatize. It is in our instinct to follow a natural protocol: To glorify our country.

var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? But, a cookie helps you in smaller ways like when you open your account in a certain site, and then when you decided to open another web, your username will be filled up automatically in the log-in tab. That’s a cookie power!

How does it work? Let’s do it simple: When you open a particular web site, its web server will send cookie to your browser. The cookie will now gather such infos about the user. The browser will then send back the collected data to the server.

Allow or Reject?

One good thing about cookies is that you can enable or disable them anytime you want. A pop-up will appear, and the user can allow or reject the cookie right away. A user can also set up the cookie setting of the browser by the following steps. Independent? Responsible?

How does it feel to be 18? Questions, a lot of questions. A number that makes the wall between the younger teen from the older teen. It's just odd to know that this number can tell you that you're matured already. But, is it really true? Is being an 18-year-old guarantees that you're in adulthood stage? To do adult stuffs, and to dwell with geriatric responsibilities?

An internationally-funded research called "Anatomical Changes in the Emerging Adult Brain," done last November 29, 2005 by two professors in Dartmouth College, defined when human maturity sets in. The study closely tracked a group of freshman students throughout their first year of college. This research contributes to the growing body of literature devoted to the period of human development between adolescence and adulthood.

During the first year of college, especially at a residential college, students have many new experiences. They are faced with new cognitive, social, and emotional challenges. The professors thought it was important to document and learn from the changes taking place in their brains. For the study, the two researchers looked at the brains of nineteen 18-year-old Dartmouth students who had moved more than 100 miles to attend college. A control group of 17 older students, ranging in age from 25 to 35, were also studied for comparison.

The results indicate that significant changes took place in the brains of these individuals. The changes were localized to regions of the brain known to integrate emotion and cognition. Specifically, these are areas that take information from our current body state and apply it for use in navigating the world.

The conclusion: The brain of an 18-year-old college freshman is still far from resembling the brain of someone in their mid-twenties. Reaching adulthood might be much later than we traditionally think.

Scientifically or either ways, reaching the age of 18 is not a proof that you're old enough, not even a sign. Maybe, one would consider that with such age, they can do more and maximize the finite acts. More privileges and more opportunities will come. However, it's an overall package: there's always a combination of positive and negative. Great responsibilities come alongside with something you attain.

Well, let us see, as I take my countdown to maturity. February 3, almost a week from now will be the day that I will experience the taste of being a more matured citizen. Will I mature or still immature? It's just a number they fondly say, but we will see.

I see you! Avatar!

Beyond imagination, beyond twisted human brains!

Avatar symbolizes how imaginative human beings are. It feeds us the taste that probably in our lives, we will not meet. This is an introductory film to modern pictures that embodies High Definition panoramic viewing, and more-than-the-standard crafting.

Quick Brief!
Human beings are set to exploit and invade Pandora, a moon in the Alpha Centauri star system, with RDA mining corporation in search for the mineral Unobtanium. Through the false body, called avatar, man can research the planet more effectively. These avatars are almost synonymous to the bodies of the native humanoids there, the Na'vi.

A researcher from Earth named Marine Corporal Jake Sully was commissioned to explore Pandora. Jake's disabled feet in his human flesh vanishes when he brings his avatar to life. While researching, he fell in love with Neytiri, a Na'vi girl.

When the human fleet attacked the Na'vi, Jake's feelings weighed more to the Na'vi and fought those cruels who commissioned him. It ended with the human defeat, and he had chosen to stay and became one of the Na'vis.

This is the first film review of Doctor know Junior, apology for the amateurity and for the late post. Anyway, here's the Doctor's flick report of grades:

Story: A

Just imagine: people in the future disprove that aliens would invade Earth. Perhaps, human will invade the aliens. That's so eerie considering that our brains are fixed that only aliens have the capability to become predators, and the entire human race is the poor prey. Proofs are the films that are made to somehow help boost our hoax beliefs.

Story-wise creative! Visually stunning! That is the difference of Avatar to these aliens-as-invaders theme based films. With the unique concept embellished with extravagant effects, this flick is not your ordinary visual sensation!

Effects: A

Colors are very essential to the film. It is so remarkable to note that colors are perfectly utilized that a pixel would like to talk and introduce its color. Most especially on the flowers and the trees, they are all like glittering neon bulbs. How would a tree emit light whenever you step on it? It's just insane, as if every plant in Pandora were digitalized.

Avatar used the CGI Imagery and partly with James Cameron's 3D camera system, that is why even a dust is as sharp as it can be, and the finest moves were flawlessly executed. All were attractive, so vivid!

Robotics design is not that quite impressive. The flick dishes the one-man operated robots where the pilot can control the robot with its own actions, almost like Daimos. The helicopters, the ships, and the other machineries are not that too special.

It was the year 2154, so the the gadgets must be almost unimaginable by then. Like with the removable transparent computer screen, it was already introduced in the science-fiction film Minority Report. The capsules where they transport their brain activities to the avatars were not so techie.

Characters: B+

Hats off to Zoe Saldana, who played the role of Neytiri. She acted very well, and her every scene is gripping. Also, Michelle Rodriguez, the one who played the pilot Trudy Chacon, even though she only has this minor role, but she did justice to it.

On the contrary, the villains are not that too good. They are not too scary or rude. Exerting more effort from them would be better fof the movie.

Direction: A-

The start is a little bit a maze. The sneak peaks were showing then came suddenly a scene. There's supposed to be a title or something in the beginning of the film. One would probably think that it was still part of the sneak peaks. Well, that's the way the director laid the story. But mind you, the ending was good particularly when the title appeared.

James Cameron was at his peak. Maybe this guy is a perfectionist in his crafts that anybody will not dare to take each of those for granted. In his every shot, no one can afford to blink.

Cinematography: A+

Floating islands with waterfalls? It's not here in Earth, but in Pandora. If only Eywa, the humanoids' goddess, is real, she should be a scientist by profession. Just kidding, but Physics and other Sciences are in her creations. All places are all detailed and so sharp. Pretty awesome.

Imagination took a furious flight in Avatar. The settings were exceptional, breath-taking! A good combination of reality and creativity intensified each second of the film with nature.

Value Content: A-

To be free is a value being portrayed in the early part of the film. When the physically challenged Jake had his first walk with his avatar, one would notice the intensity of excitement of the character. That's something to those who can really relate in the real life.

The theme, emphasis on the choice made and not the opportunity foregone, was depicted in the latter part where Jake decided to become one of the Na'vis.

On the general parameter, Avatar tells us the message: Do the stuffs you know are right, even if the majority is doing the wrong ones.

Overall: A

Though there are some minute flaws, still, the values gave spice to Avatar, yet dominantly, the effects made it stand out! Maybe not as classic as Titanic, but worth watching!

Doctor Know Junior knows that:

Avatar was made in 15 loooooong years.

The Hindi word avatar means incarnation.

The film is not based in a book, yet penned and script written by James Cameron.

Avatar holds the title of the second highest grossing film in history with $1,620,491,649 revenue as of January 18, 2010, defeating Cameron's Titanic.

Books under Harper Entertainment; games under Ubisoft Montreal; and action figures under Matell Toys of Avatar were all released last December 2009.

Cameron's Avatar is not related to Nickelodeon's Avatar.

The full script is downloadable here.

Cameron sited two possible sequels.

The official web site of Avatar is cool!

Official Trailer (Don't forget your flash player. Doctor Know Junior is online! The old blog: The Geek Cobweb has been demoted!

To start a year is to start a new phase, and that's my aim. Actually, I changed my blog last January 15, that was Friday. I just forgot to launch it officially, :D. It is never too late anyway. Totally, I changed all the stuffs connected to my blog including my Twitter account, Facebook fan page, and others. It is a total make-over!

I think The Geek Cobweb was too used, and so dull. I didn't see my identity with it. With Doctor Know Junior:

I could have my own identity and readers can easily remember it;

It fits with my site's egos;

And, it's cool! This blog will be meatier!

And I will be using that pic as this blog's official image. The reason why Doctor Know Junior? Check it here on my About page.

Ubunchu! The flick was Star Trek and others, so cool. We refrained to have the pyro stuffs since first, it will just waste money; second, it's just a time-eater; and they are accident-prone. Yeah, just to be safe.

One amazing thing happened was the occurrence of the full moon.
It was refreshing to watch such nice scenery above the sky considering that fireworks were there also. Why not? Eating junks during that time was not that too awkward. I mean, for a change. But I took not-so-junk foods before I had the real junks.

Hahaha! I just remembered the final minutes of the night, it's because I almost had my countdown in the bathroom. Ooooh! My tummy ached, too much food intake can cause you hopeless, and that's a lesson. But I managed to flush it out as soon as I could; that was just almost.

Nevertheless, everything went fine. Just feeling the 2010 beat right now. How about you? The more bloggers that get the badge, the better. Thousands of readers will know that the climate movement is spreading far beyond the typical “environmental” realm and into the norm.

Brighter Planet helps people like you measure, reduce and offset their carbon footprints. They are committed to demonstrating that small, day-to-day actions can make a huge difference for the environment.

Carbon offsets play a crucial role in building a sustainable society. Many renewable energy projects are well suited to produce energy and meet stringent standards, but lack sufficient financing. Carbon offsets fill that void by investing in these projects. My right hand’s thumb can still breathe since it was just out in the open air. But, my entire body was covered with brown cold soil. I am buried.

My body could not move, even my pulses were paralyzed. Awkward to think but my senses were functioning. It was dark. There was something beneath that kept on pulling me. I felt I was frozen.

I could hear many footsteps coming; plenty of them I thought were soldiers. I could hear them, loud and clear. The first thought that stuck to my mind was they were going to help me. And I was right!

Cracking sound of a huge machine suddenly echoed in the place. Then, a part of that equipment touched the ground. Slowly and slowly, I was lifted. I felt my vision working, but still, could not move any body part.

It was a backhoe, that yellow machine. I even glimpsed the letters written on it, it said: Government Property. I wondered how fast they brought that thing here. Or, is it how long I was buried?

That question made me realize why I am buried. But I could not remember. I thought I had already an Alzheimer’s disease at my mid 40’s, I laughed in my mind.

A group of four soldiers carried me. They laid me on the ground. Then a crowd surrounded me, around 20 to 30 I estimated. They were covering their noses. There were two persons who took pictures on me.

I tried to open my mouth in order for me to speak, but I could not. What I noticed most were the emotions of the people. They were teary, others I guessed, felt pity. I looked down on my body. I was in mud, but blood was still visible. Holes from gun bullets were all around my body.

Something on my mind was processed. I could visualize the pieces of what had happened. Then, it was like an automatic. I can remember now.

I was a reporter in a local newspaper, the name is Brigada News. I was assigned to cover a story. This one’s big, and that would mean, big salary. So, I never refused, even if it will separate me from my family. To cover a big scope is somehow an honor for me, and at the same time, a privilege.

I was assigned to Maguindanao that was November 23, 2009. A member of a prominent family there will file a certificate of candidacy at the Commission on Election office. The whole media reporters convoyed the trip of the candidate to the town hall.

Along the way in Barangay Saniag, Ampatuan town, there were a lot of armed men stopped the convoy. They forced us to get out of the vehicles. Their head, I guessed, spoke, but I couldn’t understand. He was speaking in Arabic. Everybody felt the tension. And just a snap of time, they shot us. No one escaped, no one survived!

Why?

And now, I just found my self bathed with blood. I could not almost recognize my self because of the wounds I incurred. The wasted blood of my fellow reporters reached my smell, as they are also laid beside me. It is just inhumane!

If I could just get up, and move my body now. If I could, but I just could not. Though, I will not take revenge. Justice will make way. If not in this life, then someday, soon, I will!

*This feature is dedicated to the memory of the late, Mr. Ian Subang. He is one of the victims in the Maguindanao massacre. Who in Pluto does not know her? I mean, even those who failed to have a television are familiar with this gal. She has been the country’s leading female singer, a multi-awarded actress, and the artist with the most TV Ads.

You just hit it! It is Sarah Geronimo!

Fierce. Fab. Fantastic. These are the qualities that make this young total performer to go in the concert stage and make thousands of crowd scream her name. That's normal, logically, it's a concert. But on her performances, why does everybody feel almost dying just to get expensive tickets in order to watch a Popstar concert? There is something that one could say a Sarah touch. Well, I think it's a part of Sarah's magic.

It is beyond. More than anything else, it's everybody's preferences. And as for mine, my top five reasons why I should watch a Sarah Geronimo concert are:

• Experience those high notes.
Evident. Sarah can really belt it out. With all her lung power, she could hit the notes of songs that most singers would not dare to sing. Plus, her cool and soothing voice. That's what you call, a true voice quality! Proof? Click here.

This first reason alone is sufficient enough to make you watch her. And I'm so craving for that. I want to witness that by myself. I want my eardrums to be blown away!

• Feel the Araneta Coliseum intensity.
Honestly, I have never gone to any concert. Shame to say, but true. Swear! Artists coming to GenSan are like normal artists. No one ever tempted me to watch. They are like local of the locals. But Sarah in a concert is different! I may failed to watch her first concert here in GenSan, but I already repented on the that. When you hear that the Pop Princess will have a concert, everybody seems to be excited. It is really different.

Mostly if she performs in the Araneta Coliseum. I think she made that place as her playing ground already. She really plays the stage. Sad to tell, Manila is too far from GenSan. It's impossible for me to attend such thing. But as I look Sarah, even if she is not in Araneta, she could blast the house anywhere she performs. I told you, it is a part of her magic. I want to be invigorated with her rhythmic performance, and I'm sure she will bring Araneta Coliseum to me.

• A shy type to groove to her music.
As all we can see, Sarah Geronimo is a very versatile performer. She sings, and she dances. She could sing any genre, from love songs, rNb, pop, and even rap! But, dancing is not new to her. Fast songs accompanied with fast moves, she can do that! She has this total package thing.

I dance, just in my room. I wonder if she could make this to me: make me stand from my seat and groove to her music. Come on! Sounds terrible, but we'll see. Let me see that Sarah magic.

• Transform from a Yengster to a Popster.
Yengster is to Yeng Constantino fan; Popster is to Sarah Geronimo fan.

Ever since, I've been a Yengster. I really love her songs, mostly her self-composed ones, and even her revivals. But, let us see if after attending one of Sarah Geronimo's concert, will I still be a solid Yengster or will I become a new Popster?
Will I erase Yeng's songs on my playlist and replace with Sarah's? Let us see.

• A gift for a sister.
I hate my sister, well, it's just between us, don't tell her. We are not that too super close. But one thing made my perspective change, it is because she just passed the Professional Teacher's Board Examination last October 2009.

Though with all that, I want to pay for hating her. Since she just passed the board, I really needed to. And I think, a treat to Sarah Geronimo concert would be awesome. She loves Sarah, I even called her a Sarah wannabe. The truth is, she even treated me on her very first salary from her very first job. I find it so touching. And I just want to have a heartfelt and good revenge to her. A surprise for her I think would do.

Hey! Why the hell am I writing this kind of article? Haha! Well, it is because, the subject of this post, yes, the Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo will smash General Santos City for the second time around!

Mark this: December 11, 2009 at 8:00 PM; GenSan Gym.

A night with Sarah Geronimo is really stress-reliever. Not only that, take note, she will have guests. As you read it, it's plural. The night in GenSan will be a starry one because she will be accompanied to perform by JayR, Billy Crawford, Mark Bautista, Simon Wood, and Jimmy Marquez. His winning entry is entitled, Oplan ICT: GenSan’s next escapade!

His debut on the blogging field got intensified as he participated another blog writing contest during the Information Technology Week 2009 last November 16-20. His entry, Hello Mr. Smith, I am Your Clone, was chosen as one of the five winners by the Junior Information Technology Society of Mindanao State University -General Santos City, the host of the event.

Without the yellow leaflet of the 6th E-Biz containing the info regarding the blog contest thing, most probably, this blog site would not exist. Now, he is enjoying his discoveries about the potentials of blogging.

And the rest is history.

Being a Writer

Letters are in his blood, that's only according to him.

He prefers to write than to talk because of the fact that it is too tiring (couch potato :D). To be real, maybe he has more pen and paper stocks, haha! I don't know with that fool that he likes to be quiet instead of being a loudspeaker. I just don't know, but he's insane.

Technically, he is capable, not competent, of writing school paper stuffs. He is a campus journalist, believe me because that's serious. He writes articles like news, feature, editorial, and he's a copyreader and a headline writer too. Don't be silly, it's true.

He believes that the pen is mightier than the sword, but you can not sharpen the pen without the sword (nonsense).

Get in-touched!

Via Snail Mail. If you intend to have the detailed address of the author, please do e-mail. Proofs are the various contemporary technical advances due to commercial and theoretical researches, and infinite discoveries.

These main roots even broach different incremental developments that in the near future will be inscribed in the dictionary of technology. Encompassing some of the advancements in the Information Technology are:

• Artificial intelligence
Status: Theory and experiments
Application: Creation of intelligent devices

• Machine translation
Status: Prototyping and research
Application: Easier cross-cultural communication

• Machine vision
Status: Prototyping and research
Application: Biometrics, Controlling processes, detecting events, interaction, robot vision

• General-purpose computing on graphics processing units
Status: Diffusion of non standardized methods
Application: Order of magnitude faster processing of parallelizable algorithms.

• Screenless display
Status: Theory and experiments
Application: Displays

• Phased array optics
Status: Theory
Application: Mass production of 3-dimensional imagery

• Immersive virtual reality
Status: Theory
Application: An artificial environment where the user feels just as immersed as they usually feel in consensus reality

Grandiose in scale, true. The almost unimaginable technological concepts previously listed are the products of the quests of humankind for knowledge; knowledge that will be the skeleton in enriching the day-to-day lives of people.

On the current track, governments around the globe are immensely supporting their Science and Technology research, including the Department of Science and Technology of the Philippines, aiming to improve their states' condition through research. Affirmatively, Science is really an aide, but on what aspect?

The Good Side

• Betterment of the human condition. So far, it is very visible. We are currently enjoying the benefits of technology. Some advocates of the technological change see the world abiding technology, without problems.

• Eliminate poverty. Technology would be the best job-generator. According to Ray Kuzweil, an inventor, technology will give rise to different industries, which will need massive manpower.

Flipping the other side of the coin would represent how technology affects the lives of people in the gloomy area. So, how far will mankind carry the burden of technology's dark twin?

The Bad Side

• Worsen environmental problems. The continuing development of advanced technology will just be felt in a couple of decades. After all of that short benefit, the environment will suffer.

• Used by elites for evil purposes. Bill Joy, a computer scientist, had identified clusters of technologies that will push the personal agenda of those on high positions.

• Human extinction. A warning was raised by a philosopher, Nick Bostrom, that technology could pose dangers, perhaps even contribute to the extinction of humankind.

We are putting ourselves in an impromptu. Preparation for the aftermath would be a risk, considering that almost all of us are leaning to the jolting joyride brought by technology.

Technology. A word, a powerful word. The ignition of human ingenuity only deprive its idealism. There is no rewind, always fast forward. Just like a sharp pointed tool, technology could be a scalpel to a doctor that saves lives, or it could be deadly knife in the hands of a murderer.

Oplan ICT: GenSan’s next escapade!

Tuna. Boxing. Festivals.

These are the elements that mold the city of General Santos what it is known today. Count in the delightful tuna that keeps everyone’s mouth water, the boxing industry that recurrently position GenSan on the international scene, and the strengthened festivities that embrace all visitors with warm open arms.

But center-staging GenSan on the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), definitely, it is POSSIBLE!

Yes! General Santos, being the premiere city in Southern Mindanao, is an ICT-ready zone confirmed by the Board of Investments in 2005, for the city’s central business district has the presence of ICT dedicated concrete buildings. This confirmation initially opened to a lot of Information Technology (IT) jobs that year like:

• Software developers
• Transcriptionists
• Independent programmers
• Computer graphics designer
• IT-enabled products distributor
• E-service providers
• Call center schools

GenSan’s business-friendly environment is backed with the title of being the Most Competitive Mid-sized City in the Philippines in 2002 and in 2007. The said award was due to the Philippine Cities Competitiveness Ranking Project conducted by the Asian Institute of Management. This recognition boosts the city’s economy that serves as a strong backbone for ICT breaks.

Since General Santos City is lying in the master plan that targets the global market, the city is continually opening its doors to Business Process Outsourcing Offices. These support the ICT pasture because products of local manufacturers and firms are much cheaper, approximately 25 to 50 percent, than in metro cities like Cebu and Manila. Meaning, efficiency and effectiveness of IT products of the city can attract even foreign investors.

Intensifying the magnet of GenSan to IT firm investments is through the proposed 2.8-hectare Mabuhay It Park located at the heart of the city. A one-stop, fully secured facility of the park is capable of carrying voice, video, and data services, with backup power supply. The biggest benefit of this is that it will allow ICT tourism for the city, in line with its advocacy to become an ICT center.

Another factor that abets further GenSan to becoming an ICT center is that it hugs the highly-acclaimed Mindanao State University-General Santos City. In the entire Southeast Asia, this academe is the first openHUB school that caters IT needs, especially on the Free and Open Source Software, in the whole SoCCSKSarGen region. Thus, this edge will support the city to ICT promotion.

And to note, being in-touched to everybody within the vicinity of the city is much easy that no one would never imagine because of the almost a hundred of schools, public areas, and private establishments that are Wi-Fi hotspots; proving that GenSan is transparent for communication, and can ferry information throughout the globe without any fuss.

Indeed, it is not really too far from happening that General Santos City will shine in the spotlight of ICT business. The city will make the most out of the previously mentioned assets. Actually, it just got started; just started heating the engine to give more blood to the cultivating vein of the city’s employment. A job factory! GenSan will make ICT as a source of income, teaching its people to fish in an ocean of IT opportunity.

Hatched as the gateway of Central Mindanao for development, the Rising Star of the South, General Santos City, will continue to provide quality living for its constituents in a flight towards total ICT experience vying for technological advancement. In 2015, it is the city’s vision to be a livable city trekking the path to global competitiveness.

Briefly, the Tuna Capital of the Philippines is breaking the wall of illiteracy carrying its mission to be mapped on the ICT industry. With unleashed potentials, firmly, GenSan is the next ICT destination!

Links of sponsors:
• Local Government Unit of General Santos City
• ICT Solutions Association Region 12 • General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industries
• Robinsons Place GenSan • ABS-CBN GenSan • Mang Inasal

Links of partners:
• Department of Labor and Employment
• Public Employment Service Office
